Born in 1974, Jeremy
Houghton is essentially a self taught watercolourist. Other than
studying art for A-level, and doing a Foundation course at The
Slade in London, his experience with this medium has been gained
through his travels all over the world for the past fifteen
years.
Eighteen months
ago Jeremy returned from South Africa where he held the position
of Art Master at the International School of Cape Town. He now
lives in the Cotswolds where he is one of the few artists of his
generation working with watercolours. His style combines an
instinctive draughtsmanship with his love of impressionistic
watercolours, resulting in loose, deceptively simple, direct
paintings, in the fashion of his heroes Brabazon, Seago and
Wesson.
Jeremy’s reputation and versatility in this medium is much
admired and his paintings are now sought after by both
collectors and artists alike. |
