Inspired by her travels through Southern India,
Nepal and Morocco, Henrie Haldane is fascinated by cultures,
varying seasons & vibrant colours. The patterns in her work are
drawn directly from nature; her love of the sea and beaches,
landscapes and sunsets; their colour, light and horizons.
Painting mainly with oils mixed with lots of linseed oil & Scumble
glaze, Henrie uses a layering effect in her painting. Scraping off
sections, re-applying and continually re-working, she slowly
builds up layers of colour, to create the depth and atmosphere.
Predominantly working on atmospheric abstract Landscapes and
Seascapes Henrie is also acquiring a reputation for her ‘Window’
paintings based on Moroccan Architecture. These highly textural
paintings incorporate layers of decoupage, script and gold leaf
combined with gesso and acrylics.
