Joseph Paxton grew up in Wales surrounded by farmland, where from an early age he developed a close interest in the natural world.

Having graduated with a BA Hons' Fine Art from Newcastle University in 2005, he currently lives and works in London.

In both his sculpture and loose, dynamic charcoal drawings, Joseph creates a distinctive sense of energy, spirit and character.  Creating his sculptures out of plaster and straw, which are then cast into bronze, the works retain this material, tactile nature.

As Joseph explains, "An important aspect of my work is that the viewer feels they are sharing the space with a force or entity from which radiates a feeling of living energy."
