Anna Wright grew up in Dumfriesshire and now lives in Edinburgh where she works as a full-time artist and is currently working on her own illustrated childrens' book.
Born in 1984, Anna graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006 with a degree in illustration. Having started her career working for fashion designer Katherine Hooker, Anna became a full-time artist in 2008 and her interest in materials and costume continues to resonate through her work. Combining illustration with feathers, fabrics and ribbons, Anna creates a colourful mix of collage and draftsmanship mixed with an engaging sense of humour.
Growing up in the countryside Anna describes nature and her surroundings as having always been a source of ‘amusement and intrigue.' Behind this great sense of fun lies a striking ability and expertise where ‘colours, pattern and detail come together’ to create skillfully presented characters and exceptional artwork.
Anna Wright regularly exhibits her new work, including most recently, at the 20/21 International Art Fair at the Royal College of Art in London and two sell-out shows at The Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park and Under a Grand in 2010. |
